The Center for Latino Advocacy, Resources and Organizing (CLARO)’s mission is to build collective power within San Francisco's Latino community and other underserved communities by engaging in education, community organizing, and advocacy that promotes social justice, environmental justice, and civic engagement. CLARO exists to make sure our communities aren’t just consulted - they are key stakeholders represented and equipped to win real change.

Our Vision

We envision Latino communities as decision-makers and builders: shaping safer neighborhoods, stronger local economies, and public systems that work for everyday people. CLARO believes that lasting change happens when residents have the tools, relationships, and organizing power to influence policy and investment.

Who We Serve

CLARO works alongside Latino, immigrant, working-class, and low-income residents of San Francisco, with deep roots in the Mission District and community partners across the city. Much of our work is bilingual in English and Spanish so that every resident can take part.

What We Do

CLARO combines education, community organizing, and advocacy. We help residents understand the issues that affect them, bring neighbors together around shared priorities, and make sure community voices reach the agencies and decision-makers responsible for transit, broadband, public space, and environmental health. Our work includes:

• Digital equity: closing the digital divide through broadband data collection, digital literacy support, and advocacy for affordable internet in public and affordable housing

• Transportation justice and community safety: pedestrian safety, reliable transit, and bilingual community engagement in transportation planning

• Environmental justice: education and community monitoring to reduce air pollution and toxic exposure in our neighborhoods

• Arts and culture: Third Thursdays on Treat, a free monthly night market in the Mission that supports local artists and small vendors

• Nonpartisan civic engagement: voter education, community forums, and volunteer opportunities
